The Baginton Oak

The Baginton Oak came to Benedict's attention through a casual search of the online British Newspaper Archive, using the term 'Ancient Oak'. Therein he found an article dated 23rd January 1943
mentioning "the old oak tree sitting at the apex of a triangular village green ... undoubtedly it is one of the finest oaks in the county, and its appearance is made more impressive by the rather isolated position in which it stands."
It is also stated to be more than 1,000 years old, but that estimation is deemed unlikely, perhaps a figure more along the lines of 500 to 600 years would be appropriate, based on its trunk measurements.
