Story: this extraordinary tree, also known as the Oakley Oak, was kindly brought to our attention by a supporter, in 2024. It's possibly the most impressively trunked oak I have seen. It sits alone in a grassy field next to the beautiful chalk River Test, and has the unusual setting of almost appearing to be below the water table.

Botanical note: it is rather unusual in having exceedingly long peduncles (see the final picture).
